Jesus Heals the Whole Person

After fifteen years serving in ministry, I’ve seen God do some miraculous things. I’ve seen people who I knew were on their death bed get up and walk out of the hospital. I’ve watched people in the middle of horrific addictions be healed and go on to be who God has called them to be. I have had a front row seat to God healing marriages that were beyond repair. Even though I had watched it happen with my own eyes, I really never understood what true healing was, or how it worked. I just knew that with it was possible.
While reading Follow the Healer, by Steve Seamands earlier this year I was reminded how Jesus went throughout ancient Israel healing, teaching, and preaching. On one occasion Jesus sailed across the Sea of Galilee and when he reached his destination he was met by a religious leader who fell at His feet saying, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” (Mark 5:23) In true Jesus fashion, he set out to heal the religious leaders daughter. And as usual, a large crowd followed Jesus.
Scripture tells us that in the crowd was a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years. In Jesus’ day a woman in this condition was considered unclean and was essentially cast out from society. Anyone who came in contact with the woman would be considered unclean as well. But yet she was in the crowd following Jesus. Think of the risk she was taking. All of the people in the crowd including Jesus himself were in danger of becoming unclean. But the woman had faith that Jesus could heal her. She may not fully have understood it, but in her heart she knew it was possible.
Working her way through the crowd the woman made it to Jesus and touched his robe. “Immediately her bleeding stopped, and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.” (Mark 5:29) Jesus turned to see who had touched his clothes. When He saw the woman he said something that changed everything, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”(Mark 5:34) Not only was the woman healed, but she was also freed. Freed from physical suffering, freed from emotional hurt, and freed from any and everything that was wrong. Jesus healed all of her, the whole person, and he can heal you too.

Jesus can not only heal you physically, but he can also heal any regret or shame that you may be carrying with you. Jesus can heal all of you! If it is true healing and peace you are searching for I encourage you to find a Bible believing church and immerse yourself in God’s word and in prayer. You don’t have to fully understand how God heals, you just have to believe it’s possible and give God a chance.
