Four Arrrested
BAY COUNTY, FL - Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford announced the arrest of four individuals after a shooting in Bayou George.
In the early morning hours of October 12, 2024, the Bay County Sheriff's Office responded to an address on Charles Road in Bayou George in reference to a reported shooting. Deputies arrived on scene and discovered the victim, a man, had been shot in the back. The victim was taken to a local hospital. He was taken into surgery and treated for his injuries. He remains in the hospital.
Through the course of the investigation, it was learned the victim had agreed to sell a small amount of marijuana to another man. The man arrived on scene along with two other individuals. The victim got into the man’s car to take part in the narcotics deal for the small amount of marijuana. The transaction turned violent when the driver of the car attacked the victim and then shot him in the back with a handgun. The victim was pushed out of the car and the suspects fled the scene.
Through investigative techniques a suspect and his vehicle were identified. The suspect’s vehicle was located within the hour parked at an address in Springfield. The victim's phone was seen sitting on the floorboard of the suspect’s car. A search warrant was obtained to search the home in Springfield, the suspect’s vehicle and another vehicle associated with the case.
The search warrant was executed, and ten individuals were found in the home, including seven of them in the age range of 15-20 years of age, reportedly the age range of the shooting suspects. One of the men was taken into custody when he was found to have a handgun in his possession.
The search warrant resulted in the recovery of four firearms-- three handguns and a rifle. One of the handguns was confirmed to be the one used in the shooting. In one of the vehicles, 23 grams of marijuana was recovered.
Interviews were conducted. Investigators charged Dexter Owens, age 18, of Panama City, Florida for Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Robbery with a Firearm. Owens is being held on $250,000 bond. Also charged was Nathan Alexander, age 19, of Panama City, Florida, for Principal to Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Principal to Robbery with a Firearm and Violation of Probation for his original charge of a firearm related crime. Alexander is being held without bond on the Probation Violation along with a $100,000 bond.
Not involved in the shooting and robbery but also charged for crimes coming from the search warrant were Juliana Connelly, age 18, of Panama City, Florida, for Possession of Marijuana more than 20 grams and Violation of Pre-trial Release for an original charge of Burglary with a Battery. Connelly is being held without bond for the pre-release violation. Also charged was Ayden Saliba, age 19, of Panama City, Florida, for Possession of Marijuana more than 20 grams and Pre-trial Release Violation for an original Firearm related charge. Saliba is being held without bond for the release violation.
More charges are expected in this case.
