Impact100 Gulf Coast Exceed Expecations

by Cheryl Cronbaugh

Women are coming together to make a difference in our region!
With a goal of at least $100,000, the local Impact100 set out to find 100 women who would give $1,000 to support one local charity in the coming year.
307 women (and some men) jumped in with both feet seeking to meet that goal.
With $307,000 Impact 100 will be able to invest in three charities at $100,000 each.
You might be thinking that they could have helped so many more charities with that money. So why did they chose only one per $100,000? Doling out $2000 here and $35,000 there can meet an immediate need, however, often it is just a band-aid. Charities usually have visions to accomplish more but are held back by financial burdens. They spend a lot of time and paperwork to get enough money for one small part of their vision. This is not a disparaging comment on those donations, they help. Impact100 wants to give them the money to put their dreams into action.
Impact100 is an international organization focused on getting women to help and change their communities in big ways. Examples in other areas include:

  • Pensacola: Ministry Village at Olive, Inc are using their funds to build up ministries in multiple areas including helping women over 18 with addiction, Food pantries, light bill assistance, bus tickets, early learning center and more.
  • Palm Beach: Youth Orchestra of Palm Beach County is providing music education for children and cultivating appreciation of classical music in the community.
  • Mobile, Alabama: Mulherin Home will use the grant to replace the facility roof, rebuild a privacy fence and purchase a new commercial washer/dryer.
  • Louisville, Kentucky: Hildegard House Expansion Project will provide s meaningful life and a peaceful, dignified death for at least 68 more people each year.
One investor, Debbie Ashbrook said, “I decided to be part of Impact 100 because none of my contribution went to admin cost. Everyone is a volunteer. Giving $100,000 dollars to one charity can make a significant difference in our community. I wanted to be part of this movement.”
So what is next? Watch for more details on applying for these funds. The membership will volunteer their time to read applications, interview, visit and decide on the first recipients in our Gulf Coast region.
