Arnold High School Implements Soft Lockdown Due to Threat

PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL - Arnold High School found itself in a tense situation this morning when an alleged shooting threat occurred around 10am. In response, the school went into a soft lockdown to ensure the safety of its students and staff.

Bay District Schools' Director of Communications stated in response to the lockdown, "It is a routine protocol to institute a soft lockdown out of an abundance of caution when schools are investigating concerns. Student safety is our number one priority and we will always err on the side of caution."

This isn't the first time Arnold High School has faced such incidents. In November 2017, a bomb threat led to the evacuation of the school, with students and faculty safely relocated. Law enforcement handled the situation, and Breakfast Point Academy, a nearby school, was also placed on lockdown as a precaution.

More recently, in September 2021, a phone call threat resulted in a soft lockdown and additional student safety measures. Law enforcement investigated the threat and determined it to be non-credible.
