TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – Tyndall Air Force Base celebrated the holiday season with two cherished events that brought together service members, veterans, and the local community. This December, Team Tyndall hosted its Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and the 34th Annual Golden Age Holiday Party, both of which have become beloved traditions.
The holiday season kicked off on December 4, 2024, with the Tyndall Air Force Base Tree Lighting Ceremony, creating a festive atmosphere for military families and local residents. The event, which began at 5:30 p.m., featured the much-anticipated lighting of the base Christmas tree. As part of the ceremony, Santa made a grand entrance aboard a fire truck, delighting attendees and spreading holiday cheer.
The Tyndall Child Youth Program choir performed a selection of holiday classics, providing a heartwarming soundtrack to the evening. In keeping with the festive spirit, attendees were treated to complimentary s’mores and hot cocoa, making it the perfect occasion for families to gather and celebrate the season together.
The holiday festivities continued on December 6, 2024, with the 34th Annual Golden Age Holiday Party, dedicated to honoring senior veterans and elderly members of the Bay County community. This long-standing tradition spotlighted veterans from World War II, Vietnam, Korea, and Desert Storm, providing a joyful opportunity for them to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate the holidays.
The event, which took place at Sims Nursing Home, was organized in collaboration with the Bay County Council on Aging. Senior veterans enjoyed a day filled with music from the 1940s to the 1970s, with some even taking to the dance floor to their favorite tunes from their younger years. Raffle prizes and refreshments, generously donated by the community, added to the festivities.
Members and leadership from Team Tyndall were on hand to greet the guests, ensuring each attendee felt appreciated and honored for their service. The Golden Age Holiday Party not only provided a fun, festive environment but also offered a meaningful opportunity for younger generations to show gratitude and respect for the veterans who served their country.
Both events showcased Tyndall’s commitment to fostering a strong sense of community and honoring the service and sacrifices of those who have served in the military.
