Critter Corner Spotlight: Moon Snails in Panama City Beach
Moon snails are fascinating marine mollusks found along the sandy shores of Panama City Beach.
Named for their large, rounded shells, which resemble the shape of a full moon, these snails are adept hunters. They use a specialized, rasp-like tongue called a radula to scrape open the shells of other mollusks.
Moon snails are most often spotted while beachcombing or snorkeling, and their shells are highly prized by collectors. Keep an eye out for these beautiful, predatory creatures next time you’re at the beach!
