Opinion: Bill of Rights Sanctuary County Movement Gains Momentum: Protecting All Constitutional Rights in Florida and Beyond

The Bill of Rights Sanctuary County movement has been in progress for at least 5 years. It was preceded by the Second Amendment Sanctuary County movement, which happened in response to the Brady Act. Sixty percent of our states and two-thirds of Florida counties, including Bay County, have passed an ordinance, resolution, or proclamation to protect our Second Amendment rights. Then we recognized that during the COVID "emergency," our 1st, 2nd, 5th, 9th, 10th, and 14th Amendment rights were attacked and that we need to protect all of our rights, not just our Second Amendment rights. In response, to prevent this from happening again, five counties in Florida have already passed a Bill of Rights Sanctuary County Ordinance, Resolution, or Proclamation, and six more have passed something similar. Patriots in Bay County, Brevard County, Franklin County, and others are currently working with their County Commissioners and County Sheriffs to pass such an ordinance. They need to be passed in at least two-thirds of our counties before midterm elections.
Very few of our elected officials have read the Constitution, although they have taken an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. Even fewer "know" the Constitution. How can they protect and defend our God-given rights if they do not "know" what they are? We the People are tasked with "knowing" the Constitution and, once the ordinance has been passed, holding these officials accountable, whether they "know" the Constitution or not. An ordinance is enforceable. It "has teeth."
Today we have many splintered groups going after separate special interests at the same time. What is needed instead is one concerted effort by every patriot to pass a Bill of Rights Sanctuary Ordinance in every county to protect all of our God-given rights, as outlined in the Bill of Rights, which have been under attack for over 100 years. It has been proven that once the county commissioners understand the advantages and overcome their initial resistance, they will acknowledge that these God-given rights should be protected and will pass the ordinance, making it easier to pass individual ordinances to protect the special interests, since this will be a natural extension of the Bill of Rights Sanctuary County Ordinance.
