98-Year-Old Roy Trueman Honored with Longevity Award for Election Service in Panama City

PANAMA CITY, FL - You're too old to volunteer or participate in community events? Well, you're not if you follow the example of Roy Trueman, 40-year resident of the Panama City area.
Nina Ward, Supervisor of Elections, and her team selected Trueman for the Longevity Award as he has worked in all local and national elections since the age of 89. Her entire staff honored him with their presence for the award presentation on February 24, 2025. Surprised by the recognition and most gratified, too.
Rachel Beach, Jr. Chief Quality Assurance Director posted on Facebook: "Roy Trueman was honored with a Longevity Award for his exceptional service as an election worker. Trueman is also the oldest election worker on our team, a testament to his enduring commitment and passion for the democratic process. In accepting the award, Trueman expressed his gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing his vital role in the electoral process.
At 98 years old, when asked what his secret [to longevity] was, he said, 'Do what you want and eat what you want.' " Trueman promised his loyalty for future elections stating that he wanted to have "at least a 10-year record."
