Republican Liberty Caucus of Bay County, Florida, Endorses Michael Rohan for Panama City Mayor

PANAMA CITY, FL – The Republican Liberty Caucus of Bay County, Florida (RLC Bay) endorses Michael Rohan for the position of Panama City Mayor, after reviewing his detailed Candidate Questionnaire and conducting an interview.  Rohan currently serves as Panama City's Mayor and has stated, “Panama City has been going in the wrong direction since I have lived here.  We need to learn from President Trump and change direction.  The special interests have been taken care of, but the ‘little folks’ have not.”

Rohan’s conservative positions are a matter of public record, and he will be a clear voice, safeguarding the Constitution as written, which is currently under attack.  He said that the rights of 18-, 19- and 20-year-old citizens to purchase long guns should be restored, is opposed to Universal Background Checks for private firearm transfers, does not believe that semi-automatic firearms or large-capacity magazines should be banned, would support removing restrictions on law-abiding gun owners from carrying a firearm into “Gun-Free Zones”, would support open carry and campus carry.  He also supports term limits to help prevent corruption in entrenched career officials.

Rohan summarized his decision to run for Mayor in 2023, saying that during retirement, he became very concerned about local politics and the “Good Old Boys” who were running the city and decided to do something about it.  With the endorsement and help of the Republican Party, Rohan successfully ran for Mayor, becoming the first Republican ever elected as Panama City Mayor.  Two years was not enough time to “clean up the city”, so Rohan is running again and hoping for two new city councilmen with no special interests to be elected to join him.

When notified of the endorsement, Rohan responded, “I believe in the Republican Liberty Caucus.  I value your endorsement.”

Karen Custer, Chairman, RLC Bay, added, “Rohan is a staunch Republican, has a reputation for being Pro-Trump, and for voting a conservative position on issues before the Panama City Commission. We need to elect more people like him and councilmen who will support his efforts to clean up the city.”
