CPAR Celebrates 100 years

by Cheryl Cronbaugh

PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL - CPAR, Central Panhandle Area Realtors, celebrated 100 years in a big way Friday, April 4th. Utilizing the Edgewater Convention Center, attendees were greeted with the 1920’s theme at every turn.  Several hundred attendees, all dressed in the style of the 1920’s added bling to the well-planned event.
At the entrance was a photo opportunity with the CPAR 100 years sign. Moving into the hallway, the entrance to the Speakeasy was heavily draped. Supra sponsored the Speakeasy, and it was glamorous with crystal chandeliers, antique seating areas, and a long bar. “Cigarette” girls came around with trays filled with appetizers.
Leaving the Speakeasy, attendees were treated to photos and explanations of the 100 years of CPAR. From paper records to modern technology, the field of real estate has changed. While it started small with Panama City Area Realtors, it eventually changed its name to CPAR and was run by a CEO under the direction of a board.  Three women have filled that position: Eleanor Burris for 51 years, Debbie Ashbrook for 9 years, and Kaydee Albritton for 1 year.
At the end of the trail of history was a 1920 car for another photo opportunity. At this point, attendees turned from the car to see the beautifully decorated ballroom. Swanky is the word that comes to mind. An eight-piece band and acrobatic performers provided entertainment along with the speakers and slide shows commemorating CPAR’s history and, more importantly, their success. The evening ended with great music and dancing.
CPAR enjoys the collaboration of six area counties providing MLS listings, lock boxes, meeting rooms, and continuing education for its members, as well as many other benefits and tools to assist a realtor in being the best they can be.
