Panama City Fatal Crash: DUI Arrest at Beach Drive, Rally for Stoplight Set

PANAMA CITY, FL - At 10:05 am, on May 19, 2025, the Panama City Police Department responded to the intersection of Beach Drive and Harrison Ave in reference to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, they located an elderly female in a motorized wheelchair, pinned under the front of a Chevy Silverado truck. The female sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. She later died from her injuries sustained during the crash. Clynton Ray Davis, 54, of Panama City was identified as the driver of the truck. An investigation was conducted, and Davis was arrested for DUI – Manslaughter. He was transported to the Bay County Jail and the criminal investigation is ongoing.

Bay County Coastal was informed that, in response to the accident, local residents are organizing a rally to demand the reinstallation of a stoplight allegedly removed for aesthetic reasons, which many believe contributed to the accident. The demonstration is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. at the site of the incident. Organizers want to highlight the need for enhanced pedestrian safety and urge city officials to prioritize safety over appearance in future infrastructure decisions.
