Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8205 Remembers
PANAMA CITY, FL - The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) “Tom B. Glaze” Post 8205 annual Memorial Day barbeque had an overwhelming attendance again this year to remember those who served and gave their all. There was every kind of homemade food you could think of from baked beans and salads, to yummy desserts, hotdogs and hamburgers.
This was also the day that officers of the post and of the auxiliary were installed for service for the upcoming year in solemn ceremonies and at noon the American Flag was raised to full staff.
There is a very active VFW Post 8205 Riders Group whose members cook and serve breakfast every Saturday morning from 8 am to 10 am. They host a 1st Friday Wing Night each month (try the mango habanero hot wings!) and occasionally host a 3rd Friday bike night meal. One popular event was the pig roast they held in recent years. Riders stayed up all night preparing and roasting the pig!
On Monday evenings, different Auxiliary members prepare dinner for patrons. Wednesday evening has Billy Burgers, French fries, onion rings and occasionally brats for sale. The 2nd Saturday is Steak night and there are occasionally dinners served on other Saturdays.
There is live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings, and Chris the DJ plays on Sundays. I have even heard that Toni Vegas occasionally presents the “Chicken Dance.”
VFW is much appreciated by active duty and former military because, “No One Does More For Veterans.”
