Joseph Story

by Cheryl Cronbaugh

God doesn’t always do things the way we think He should. Take Joseph. He was one of the younger brothers of 12 boys. Wow! That’s a lot! Together, they took care of goats and sheep.
God had a plan for his family that started rather strangely. Joseph’s Dad knew Joseph was special, and he gave him a coat of many colors. How colorful can you make his coat?
It made his other brothers angry and jealous. So angry they sold Joseph as a slave and told their father that he was killed by a wild animal.
It is a pretty long story, but the good news is that God had a plan. Joseph ended up as the right hand of the Pharoah of Egypt – he is like a king. Joseph stored a lot of food there in case of a famine, a time when food is hard to get.
His family was nearly starving during this famine, and Joseph was able to save them with some of the food he had saved. The best part is – he forgave them. What his brothers intended for bad, God used for good.
Next time you feel like things aren’t going the way you want, remember God always has a plan. You may not understand now, but later you will be able and look back and see how God protected and provided for you.
