Social Security Tax Relief Brings Historic Change for Bay County Seniors

BAY COUNTY, FL – With an estimated 35,000 people aged 62 and older according to the last census, Bay County stands to benefit from a new law celebrated by the Social Security Administration (SSA). The recently passed One Big, Beautiful Bill ensures that nearly 90% of Social Security beneficiaries will no longer pay federal income taxes on their benefits, offering significant relief to seniors.
Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano hailed the legislation as a historic step, stating, “For nearly 90 years, Social Security has been a cornerstone of economic security for older Americans. This law reaffirms President Trump’s promise to protect Social Security and helps ensure seniors can enjoy their earned retirement.” The bill also includes an enhanced deduction for those 65 and older, allowing retirees to retain more of their income.
