\The Bay County community came through to support Rutherford High School JROTC cadets by donating funds through “Vertical Raise” to help with expenses throughout the school year. Cadets and their supporters publicized the event by providing a QR Code via email and social media. The funds will be used to pay for various expenses that will be incurred and not funded by the Air Force.
At Rutherford, CMSGT Johnson stated, “Each program is different, so I can only speak to what we do at Rutherford. In our program, we do not charge students/parents for admission into the program. Some activities like meals for field trips are reimbursed (only for students) by the Air Force (we have a budget), but many of the things we do/buy for our cadets come from our internal fundraising account. Our largest fundraiser each year is Vertical Raise. All fundraising activities that we conduct are approved through the District and are in accordance with Air Force JROTC instructions and policy.”
Through Vertical Raise, the community donated $6,502 during this campaign to the program.
The JROTC program does a wonderful job preparing these young minds to be tomorrow's leaders. When you see the QR Code posted next year, please scan and donate!
