100 Women Who Care - Become A Member - Make A Difference!

by Kathy Benner

BAY COUNTY, FL - In 2023, Kathy Benner took up the mission to start 100 Women Who Care Bay County, in hopes of making a difference in her immediate area. The goal is to reach 100+ members. Meeting once a quarter, each member has $100 in hand, can nominate a Bay County non-profit, and after hearing from 3 non-profits for 5 minutes each, the group votes to select a recipient of the collective donation.
It’s like multiplying your individual impact 100 times. No service hours, no overhead, just one hour, and a Bay County non-profit can receive up to $10,000.
The movement began in 2006 and there are over 700 chapters worldwide. Pooling individual resources in each local chapter, substantial contributions can be made quickly and efficiently to support local non-profits. “Power in numbers” becomes a reality.
Locally, Kathy is eager to welcome new members to the group and see the size of the quarterly donation increase. In the first 2 ½ years, the number of members has ranged from 26 – 58 attending per quarter. That has translated to $5,400 to Family Service Agency, $2,600 to Girls Inc., $3,300 to Warrior Memorial Reefs, and several other causes.
100WWCBC is also looking for non-profits serving Bay County. Non-profit status must be confirmed before the quarterly meeting. Meetings are held at the Krewe of St. Andrews Event Center, 1561 ½ Chandlee Avenue, Panama City, Florida. For more information contact Kathy at 100wwcbc@gmail.com.
