The Bay County Coastal Print Edition Bids Farewell
June 16, 2026
Sadly, we have mailed out the final print edition of the BCC. As I am sure you are aware, the newspaper business is one that is struggling to survive in general, and that is especially the case for those in a small market.
Ted and Janet Pattison took up this cause because they wanted to make their community a better place. And they were willing to fund it and do the work to make it happen.
Unfortunately, for Ted loved ones and Bay County he has gone on to be with the Lord.
Janet was, however, kind enough to give me the opportunity to try to save their vision of a community-based newspaper. After the tragic and untimely passing of Ted, and for that, I am truly appreciative.
On their behalf, I would like to thank all of our subscribers, advertisers, and volunteers over the years that helped along the way.
A special thanks goes out to Karen Custer, who stepped in as editor and kept the operation afloat during Ted’s illness. She did so out of love for her community and for Ted and Janet.
However, that does not mean the work stops with the last edition of the printed paper. Unless something changes as we work our way through the final court proceedings, our social media footprint will continue to operate.
So please follow us on Facebook or Instagram if you have not done so already.
Thanks again for your prayers, kind words of encouragement, and for allowing us to be part of what makes our county a great place to live.
Publisher's note: The good news is this will allow us more time to dig through all the details of how your tax money is being spent in Bay County and what the legislature is doing to make matters better or worse.
