PCB Voter - Please Lend Me Your Ear

by Rex Reid

On April 16th the sacrifice our veterans have made since the founding of the Republic will be on the ballot. It might sound cliché but it’s the truth, and your vote will record whether you are willing to honor their sacrifice or not.

See our current mayor like so many elected officials only care about one thing and that is not the oath they took. It is do anything you need to do if you believe it improves your chances of being reelected.

I know what you are thinking, doesn’t that mean he is doing what he should be doing? Well let’s look at the record and see.

During the early days of the lies we were being told about COVID most residents thought it was a good idea to close the beach to prevent an influx of tourists. However, by the end of April when two new members and the mayor were sworn in a rational person had figured out that we were being played for political benefit.

And what was the response of our new members who took an oath to defend the Constitution? Well, like the women in Solomon’s court, they cried cut the baby in half, and opened the beach from 5 AM to 9 AM and 5 PM to 9 PM because COVID was not out during those hours.

Look, no one is perfect, and fear has a way of making people do strange things. But the fact of the matter is this was just strike one.

As the next wave of fear/stupidity swept across the fruited plain. The weak of mind demanded everyone wear a mask and our city council was all too eager to heed the cry of the uninformed mob and set aside their oath.

Don’t get me wrong, they were all too willing to give lip service to those of us that opposed the mandate. But their minds were already made up. How do I know this.

Prior to the vote I offered to meet with them to share sixty-seven years of data that showed masks do not stop the spread of respiratory viruses. And not a single member bothered to even call me knowing they could easily ignore my three-minute presentation at the next council meeting.

But they couldn’t just leave it at strike two. They had to double down to placate those willing to treat you like a child incapable of making their own decisions and extend the mandate.

Keep in mind this is well after tourist season had come and gone making the decision even more irrational. Simply put our mayor has had his turn at bat, and he struck out when it comes to treating me and you like adults and honoring the sacrifice of our veterans.

Oh, did I mention our property and utility taxes are through the roof and instead of reducing the amount the council steals they are spending every penny to help make traffic worse?
