Kidfest Celebrates 27 Years

by Karen Custer

PANAMA CITY, FL - Kidfest, hosted by Early Education and Care, Inc. (EEC), is being held on May 4th. This 27-year-old family event is eagerly anticipated each year, with numerous activities for children, entertainment, food, and fun for the whole family. Typically, more than one hundred area organizations and businesses will set up free activities for children of all ages, including the Kiwanis Club of Panama City's “Fishing Booth.” Numerous entertainers will showcase their talents throughout the day. About 5,000 people are expected to attend the event.

Kidfest is EEC’s major fundraiser to support its programs, celebrate children, and enhance family involvement. EEC’s programs include a DCF Childcare database, information about how to register for childcare courses and competency exams. There is also an online applications to enroll children in Head Start, a national program designed to help prepare children for school and to provide medical and dental services. There is the Home-Based and Pregnant Mom’s Programs that provide the same Head Start services to pregnant women, children, ages 0-3 years, and their families, in their homes.
