LYNN HAVEN, FL - The 97th Sherman Invitational, set to take place on May 17, 2024, at Panama Country Club, promises to be an exciting event for amateur golfers. With a 54-hole stroke play format and five age-based divisions, this prestigious tournament has a rich history dating back to 1927. The entry fee of $275 includes a complimentary practice round, tournament rounds, breakfast and lunch each day, generous tee gifts, a Saturday evening cocktail hour, and a Saturday evening dinner. The field is strictly limited to the first 192 paid entries, ensuring a competitive and select group of participants.

The Sherman Invitational has seen many changes over the years, both in the tournament itself and at Panama Country Club. Alton Colvin's journey from a caddy in the 1940s to the winner of the 1984 W.C. Sherman Invitational Amateur Tournament highlights the long-standing tradition and prestige of this event. The tournament, named after W.C. Sherman, who established the course in 1926, has been continuously played since 1927, except for a brief hiatus during World War II. The impressive list of past winners includes multiple champions and professional golfers such as Downing Gray and Gardner Dickinson, Jr.

As the 97th Sherman Invitational approaches, golfers from all over the region will gather to compete in this storied tournament. With its rich history and commitment to excellence, the Sherman Invitational stands as a testament to the enduring passion for golf and the dedication of those who have worked tirelessly to preserve its legacy.
