In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation making the second Sunday in May a national holiday, and it has been celebrated annually since then. These verses from the Bible beautifully capture the essence of family, wisdom, and the sacred role of motherhood. They emphasize the unbreakable bond between parents and children, the strength and grace of a virtuous woman, and the profound joy that comes with the birth of a child. These timeless words serve as a reminder of the importance of instilling God's teachings in our children and cherishing the precious moments of life.

If your mother has passed, this is a great time to remember the good times or just thank God for having a mother that gave birth to you. If your mother is still around then take the time on Sunday to call her or spend the day with her. God calls us to honor our mothers, no matter the circumstance.

Proverbs 17:6: “Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.”

Proverbs 31:25: "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come."

Proverbs 31:26: "She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue."

Proverbs 31:28–29: "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.'"

Proverbs 31:31: "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."

John 16:21: "A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world."

Deuteronomy 6:6–7: "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."

Luke 2:51: "And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart."
