TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, FL - A spectacular sight was witnessed by workers at Tyndall Air Force Base on June 7, 2024, when a massive waterspout emerged in the Gulf of Mexico. The 1/2-mile high and 150-foot wide spout was spotted southwest of the base around 7:30 am.

As the waterspout dissipated, it was followed by a sudden and unexpected downpour of ice-cold rain, which lasted for approximately 30 minutes. Coupled with cold winds, the weather event forced all work on the base to cease as workers sought shelter.

This unusual occurrence serves as a reminder of the unpredictable and awe-inspiring power of nature.
