Panama City Verizon Wireless Stores Give Away Hundreds of Free Backpacks

BAY COUNTY, FL - In an effort to ease the financial burden for families heading into another school year, Panama City-area Verizon Wireless retail locations gave away hundreds of free backpacks on Sunday, July 28 at 1 p.m. This initiative addressed the significant need to provide additional support and resources, as 42% of U.S. parents reported going into debt to pay for their child(ren)’s back-to-school items.

Any leftover backpacks at “School Rocks Backpack Giveaway” events were donated to local schools of each store’s choice. Since the event’s inception, Round Room has been able to provide more than 1.3 million children with a backpack.
