TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, FL. – Leaders from around the Bay County area toured Tyndall AFB on August 8, 2024, as part of the Honorary Commander program. The honorary commanders, inducted this past June, visited sites around base to learn and experience the overall mission of the airmen stationed at Tyndall. Stops on the tour included an F-35 simulator. Each honorary commander is paired with a commander on base, providing opportunities for both specific understanding of that unit’s mission and general awareness of Tyndall as a whole. After gaining a personal understanding of Tyndall, its mission, and its role in the Air Force, honorary commanders are able to take their knowledge back into the community. Honorary commanders serve a two-year term.
