Happy Ending Property Returned in Panama City Theft

PANAMA CITY, FL - Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford announced today the arrest of a local man in connection to the theft of thousands of dollars in property. The suspect is now in the Bay County Jail and all stolen property has been returned to the victim.
On August 21, 2024, a burglary was reported to the BCSO. The burglary happened at a residence in the 2300 block of Sherman Ave. The victim was in the process of moving from the home when they realized multiple thousands of dollars of property had been stolen from the home.
The BCSO Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to the scene and began to work the case. On August 22, 2024, Nathan Scarbrough, age 41, of Panama City, Florida, was identified as the suspect. Scarbrough was located and taken into custody for the burglary and theft. He was also found to be in possession of fentanyl. During an interview Scarbrough admitted to committing the burglary but made claims he did not know the location of the stolen property. Scarbrough was taken to the Bay County Jail for the charges of Burglary of a Dwelling, Grand Theft and Possession of Fentanyl.
CID investigators continued to follow up on the case and were able to locate a residence that Scarbrough was known to frequent. Contact was made at the residence, and it was learned Scarbrough had stored the stolen property at this location. All the stolen property was recovered and returned to the victim.
