Bay County Sheriff's Office Investigating School Violence Threats

BAY COUNTY, FL - On September 8, the Bay County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) was made aware of a possible threat of violence at North Bay Haven to take place September 9th.
Investigators looked into the threat on social media and were able to make contact with the middle-school aged child who posted it. The juvenile admitted it was completely made up.
The juvenile has been charged. Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford has been in communication with administration at the school. It is believed the threat was not credible.

The BCSO is also working with Bay District Schools and law enforcement partners on another school shooting threat that is circulating across the state of Florida.
There is no mention of a specific school and no credible evidence that Bay County schools are involved in this threat. However, Sheriff Ford placed additional resources at schools in Bay County.
The Bay County Sheriff's Office and Bay District Schools remain vigilant concerning this non-specific threat. The safety of our school children and staff continue to be a priority.
