Thieves Steal Surveillance Gear, Get Caught on Camera

BAY COUNTY, FL – On September 5th, Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford announced the arrest of two men after stealing surveillance equipment belonging to the Sheriff’s Office. 
On September 3, 2024, BCSO Criminal investigators received information that a camera that had been set up at a victim’s home to determine who was stealing from the residence had itself been stolen. Upon checking the logged software to the camera, two men were observed on the property. One of the men had his face covered and was wearing a green shirt. The other man was driving a black SUV. This vehicle was later determined to have been stolen.
Investigators identified two men as suspects in the theft of surveillance equipment. One camera was found in a nearby creek. One man faces charges of Felony Petit Theft, while the other is charged with Petit Theft, Violation of Felony Probation, and Grand Theft Auto.
