PANAMA CITY, FL - This is a compilation of reports from September 2024 from the Bay County Sheriff's Office.
Two Rutherford High School students arrested on felony charges related to a school threat.  The 8th grade boy was charged with False Report of a Shooting.  The 9th grade boy was charged with Written Threats to Kill.
An 11 year old 6th grader at Jinks Middle School was arrested on felony charges related to a school threat. A Fortify Florida tip was received by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office and Bay District Schools. The information provided indicated that the suspect stated they would conduct a shooting at Jinks Middle School. The threat stated, “I’ll shoot Jink up”, “Everybody dying”, “Imma murder everyone” along with other details.
In addition, a Merritt Brown Middle School (MBMS) student sent a message to a group on social media which contained the words: “what if I shot up the school td?”. (Td is slang for today.) The student, age 13, was identified as the person who sent the message out, taken into custody and charged with False Report of Gun Violence, as well as Disorderly Conduct.
In another case, Bay District Schools student made a comment while on a school bus claiming to be a “real gangster” and having his “strap” on him. (Strap is slang for gun.) This caused the delay of the bus he was on and was a concern for the driver of the bus, the paraprofessional on the bus, and the students who overheard the comment. This student, age 12, was charged with Disorderly Conduct as well as Disruption of a School Function.
Sheriff Ford reminds anyone who discovers a post online threatening violence to not repost but report it to a local law enforcement agency.
