TUSCALOOSA, AL — (September 14, 2023) — Ruby Tilghman, a junior at the University of Alabama, from Panama City, Florida, was crowned Miss University of Alabama 2025 at the Bama Theatre. Majoring in chemistry on a pre-med track, she aspires to become a pediatric neurologist.
Tilghman is the founder of Many Mini Musicians, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding fine arts in public schools. She started the organization in 2017 while she was a student at North Bay Haven in Lynn Haven, FL. “Music education is a privilege that should be available to everyone,” she said, highlighting her commitment to making the arts accessible. Under her leadership, the organization has raised over $150,000 for music programs and provided instruments to students in need.
Inspired by her childhood dreams of competing in the Miss America Organization, Tilghman aims to use her platform to expand her community initiatives, including digital college readiness resources for Alabama’s Black Belt region and the revitalization of the 57 Miles program, which connects UA students with local culture.
“I want every student to experience the joy of service,” Tilghman stated, emphasizing her dedication to community outreach during her reign as Miss UA.
A healthy Bay County requires great community news.
