High School Fall Sports Recap: A Look at the Season's Highlights

BAY COUNTY, FL – As the fall sports season winds down, local high school teams have been busy on the field, court, and track, showcasing their talent and determination. From thrilling soccer matches to standout performances in cross country, here's a comprehensive recap of how our high school teams fared.
Girls Soccer:
The local girls’ soccer teams had a mixed bag of results this season, with some strong performances and some tough losses. On Nov 4, Freeport dominated Bozeman 5-0, while Mosley cruised past Rutherford with an impressive 8-0 win. Bay faced a tough challenge against North Bay Haven Academy, losing 0-8 on Nov 5.
The action continued with Arnold and Leon playing to a scoreless draw on Nov 7. That same day, Bay rebounded with a strong 8-1 victory over Bozeman. In a competitive match on Nov 8, Port St. Joe topped Rutherford 3-1, while Bay defeated Port St. Joe 3-1 on Nov 9. Destin will face Bozeman on Nov 12 to start the soccer season.
Boys Soccer:
Boys’ soccer also saw intense matchups and standout individual performances. On Nov 4, Maclay defeated Bay 5-1, and Freeport triumphed 8-1 over Bozeman. Gulf Breeze fell to Arnold 1-4 on Nov 5, while Bozeman struggled with a 0-2 loss to Palm Bay Prep Academy.
The following week, Mosley defeated Marianna 6-1 on Nov 7, and Bay fell 1-6 to Tate that same day. Bozeman suffered another loss, 1-6, against Pine Forest on Nov 8. Port St. Joe faced Rutherford, losing 1-5, while Arnold secured a 4-1 victory over Lincoln.
Looking ahead, Destin will play Bozeman on Nov 12, with other upcoming matchups between North Bay Haven Academy and Mosley, and Bay vs Navarre.
Boys Basketball:
The boys' basketball season has just kicked off, and Port St. Joe will face Rutherford on Nov 12 in a highly anticipated matchup. With the season in its early stages, teams are gearing up for what promises to be an exciting winter of basketball action.
Girls Basketball:
The girls' basketball season is also underway, with Mosley falling to Lincoln 37-56 on Nov 11. Bay was edged out by Rutherford, losing 37-55 on the same day. Covenant Christian will face Santa Rosa on Nov 12.
Girls Volleyball:
In Panama City Metro, North Bay Haven Academy led the pack with a stellar 22-4 overall record, followed by Mosley at 18-9. Arnold (12-11) and Bozeman (10-13) were close behind. Bay finished the season with a 8-17 record, while Rutherford ended at 9-13. Covenant Christian struggled this season with an 0-10 record.
Football:
The football season has seen some impressive performances, particularly from Mosley, which finished with a strong 9-1 record. Arnold followed closely at 7-3, while both Bay and Bozeman finished 5-5. Rutherford ended their season at 2-8, and North Bay Haven Academy struggled with a 0-10 record.
Cross Country:
In cross country, North Bay Haven Charter Academy took the championship title in the girls’ race, with standout performance from Margaret Bartlow, who finished as the medalist with a time of 18:06.40.
On the boys’ side, Arnold claimed the team championship, and Lucca Sanabraia from Mosley took the individual medalist honor with a time of 17:03.20.
