Panama City Storm Preparation

by City of Panama City

PANAMA CITY, FL - 1/20/25 - 10:40 AM - In response to the anticipated winter storm and its impacts on business in Bay County, residential garbage collection (blue cans) will begin at 3 a.m. Tuesday, January 21st, so that pickup routes can be completed and garbage dropped off at the landfill before its closure.

The City's administrative offices will close at 1 p.m. Tuesday and remain closed through the day Wednesday, January 22nd, to ensure the safety of our employees and the public. We will closely monitor the weather forecast early Tuesday morning and, if necessary, adjust our closure time on Tuesday for the safety of our staff and residents.

All essential personnel will remain on duty during the closure period, ready to respond, with necessary staff on-call as needed.

Our Public Works team is actively preparing for the storm by stocking up on sand and will begin pre-treating the City's local bridges and roadways ahead of any potential icing tomorrow.

We urge residents to continue preparing for winter storm impacts by avoiding unnecessary travel, protecting people, pets, pipes, and plants and practicing fire safety.

The safety of our community remains our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding as we continue to monitor and respond to the developing situation. For further updates, please check our website, www.panamacity.gov, official social media accounts and the local media.
