Panama City Launches Targeted Communication Tool to Keep Residents Informed - CivicReady

PANAMA CITY, FL – The City of Panama City excitedly announces the official launch of its new mass notification system, CivicReady. This innovative tool is designed to improve how the City communicates with the public and its employees. CivicReady will allow the City to send timely and important updates on various issues, including city news, project updates, road closures, events and happenings, garbage collection changes, and public meeting notices. Message delivery methods include text messages, email and/or the myAlerts mobile app. The alerts are free; however, standard text messaging rates and other charges may apply.
A standout feature of this system is geotargeting, which enables the City to send alerts to specific areas within the community. For example, if there’s a boil water notice, the City can target the affected streets, ensuring that only the citizens who need the information receive it. This eliminates the need to send a city-wide message and makes communication more relevant and efficient. Additionally, CivicReady will allow residents to sign up for neighborhood-specific notifications. Whether there’s a local event, a project underway, or a city-related update in their area, residents will be the first to know, keeping them connected to their neighborhoods' happenings.
“The launch of CivicReady is a significant step forward in enhancing how we communicate with our citizens and reflects our commitment to providing timely, relevant information to our residents,” said Jonathan Hayes, City Manager. “We’re excited to foster stronger relationships with the public and ensure our community is always informed and prepared.”
With CivicReady, the City is strengthening the reliability and efficiency of its communication efforts. This system ensures that critical information can be quickly and effectively shared, allowing the City to keep citizens informed on matters that directly impact them and their community.
To sign up for the general alert categories mentioned above, citizens can text PanamaCity to 38276.
To make more specific selections, such as neighborhood groups, and choose your message delivery preference, citizens should visit the City’s website, www.panamacity.gov, and click the “Notify Me” button on the homepage.
