by Bay County Sheriff's Office

BAY COUNTY, FL - The Bay County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a local man after he fled in his vehicle from a BCSO deputy responding to a 911 call. The 911 caller had reported an argument taking place in the 100 block of Comet Avenue and one of the men involved had brandished a handgun.
Deputies followed the suspect, who was driving recklessly and at a high speed. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect drove west on Hwy. 22. The pursuit was terminated as the suspect was driving so recklessly. The suspect was found soon after on Everett Avenue traveling north, again at a high speed.
The suspect struck a vehicle on Everett Avenue, lost control of his vehicle, and then struck four other vehicles parked for repairs at a vehicle repair shop. The suspect then fled on foot and was taken into custody quickly. A handgun was found near where the suspect was apprehended.
The suspect was identified as Corey Peterson, age 25, of Panama City. He is charged with Fleeing and Eluding, Driving with a Suspended or Revoked License, and Resisting Officers Without Violence.

Additional charges are pending involving the discovery of the handgun near the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
