Exciting Changes Ahead: Mandy Yourick Joins St. Andrews Museum Team!

PANAMA CITY, FL – The Historic St. Andrews Waterfront Partnership is thrilled to welcome Mandy Yourick as the new Museum Manager of the St. Andrews Museum. With a strong background in visual art and art history, Mandy brings her passion for storytelling through exhibits and interactive experiences. Her vision includes expanding activities for all ages and deepening the museum’s engagement with the local community.
Mandy looks forward to collaborating with the museum’s dedicated team of volunteers to continue creating enriching experiences for visitors. Her expertise in curating exhibits and her enthusiasm for history will ensure that the museum remains a vibrant cultural hub in St. Andrews.
As part of its exciting upcoming programming, the museum will showcase The Poetry of Philander Bailey West, a collection of historic poems by George West’s father, dating back to the 1860s. Some of these poems were handwritten, while others were published in the Brandon Times newspaper.
The Brandon Times was established in 1866 when George West utilized printing equipment at the Brandon railroad depot, which was primarily used for printing train timetables. This unique exhibit highlights the rich history of early American journalism and poetry.
In honor of National Poetry Month and Poem in Your Pocket Day on April 18, the museum is proud to share these historical writings with the public. Visitors will have the chance to explore the artistry of 19th-century poetry and learn more about its significance in the region.
With Mandy Yourick at the helm, exciting new exhibits and community-focused programming are on the horizon for the St. Andrews Museum. Be sure to stop by and experience these wonderful historical and cultural offerings!
